Culture, subjectivity and ek, Anna van Wyk
This article attempts to demonstrate that the play ek, Anna van Wyk (Fourie, 1986) in effect dramatizes the conflict between self and society within the process of the constitution of subjectivity. This conflict is illustrated by means of some of the illuminating concepts and perspectives of contemporary cultural studies, especially those pertaining to the production and reproduction of subjectivity by the social order.
