An executive decision cutting my work and pay

Means

 

I scramble to survive

Meaning

 

I eat less, delay servicing the car, and cancel the dry cleaning

 

Sure, I know I’m merely a budgeted item

Meaningless

To management and viewed as no longer

Meaningful

 

But the faceless “It’s nothing personal” feels just plain

Mean

 Butterfly Graces

A butterfly graced

 

The craft compound at church camp

 

Lightly blessing beads

 

Calico patches

 

And the colored boondoggle

 

Dangling from a post

 

It tickled bare backs

 

Explored drying objets d’art

 

While dancing over glue

 Ode to Selfie Mosquito

Selfie Mosquito--

Tiptoeing on a mirror

Tap dancing true love

Beguiled by me-ness

Thoroughly narcissistic

Smitten by image--

 

Smugly preens in glee,

Smashingly unaware of

Quickly coming death
